Content – Strategy – Growth

Content is central to the projects featured in my Client Work Portfolio. My role on Projects can be copywriter, designer, editor, social media manager, SEO optimizer, launch advisor, or creativity facilitator. Strategy and Growth Planning projects tend to be more private endeavors and aren’t as easily shared. I can, however, provide client references to my work style and product.

I love putting puzzle pieces of information into a readable (human) story. In fact, my life’s work has been observing people to suss-out what they can’t or don’t say out loud, but want to. As a result, I’ve created strong tools and habits to help people share what make them, and their business, special.

Client Work – eCommerce/ Website Copy & SEO Writing

The Blessed Bee Company was referred to me by a previous client. Their ecommerce site had stalled; they needed copywriting help. The overarching goals were to convert sales. The priority was to make their homepage and product pages clear, clever, and compelling, but timing was tight. Through a few, focused interviews, I was able to extract facts, values, and personality to do justice to their magical story.

THE BLESSED BEE COMPANY | 2021

The Founders of Miss Mary’s Mix had difficulty shining a spotlight on their ingenuity and success. Being a bad@ss at business and also an awesome human aren’t mutually exclusive! The revised copy tells the story of their company that appeals to both their business and their consumer customers.

Many a speaker/ executive/ business owner have struggled with translating their resume into a compelling bio. For new companies, however, your website is your business card and credentials. It’s the first place most people go to see if you are legit. Finding the balance between natural language and keyword-rich copy is key to SEO conversion.

Client Work – Sales Decks & Infographics

I have an artist’s eye for layout, color, and story impact. So, when I redesigned the sales deck for Fresh Bev, I focused first on visual prioritization to draw in the audience. Next, branding continuity is critical for start-ups, so I established a visual anchor throughout the presentation. Finally, this is a playful and innovative company; they needed some personality to shine through in the copy.

Whatever your industry, marketing materials should be visually compelling and data rich documents. This sales sheet needed to communicate specific product information for important launches. The addition of consumer trend statistics helped to establish the motivation to try these products.

A friend reminded me just what a sh*tshow the job market is. STILL. If you’re a company looking to hire top talent, don’t waste your chances to woo and impress. Start with a killer job description that isn’t just spin, but thoughtful, authentic, and compelling. Click image to read. Or just email me. Seriously. You know you want to.

Client Work – Blog Posts, Articles, Newsletters

Everyone will tell you, “You have to publish regularly,” but that’s easier said than done. Blogs (or weblogs as they were originally called) are just articles on your website on topics that matter to you, your employees, your customers, your industry. The best blogs will earn you search recognition and backlinks. Links to the content can be repurposed into other formats (graphics, quotes, thumbnails, etc.) and also reposted to your social media platforms. Newsletters are often your regularly scheduled customer communication or “outbound” marketing.

Client Work – Strategy Consulting & Workshops

Start-ups and their founders move incredibly fast. When growth happens more quickly than hires, gaps in your narrative, product offering, or communication touchpoints are exposed. Early-stage or reinvention-bent companies are a sentimental favorite of mine. Not everyone can navigate the stormy seas of messy chaos. But, then again, ‘smooth seas don’t make skilled sailors.’

Many business leaders, and in particular sales leaders, take pride in their ability to facilitate discussions. Bringing in a third party to moderate and probe (as only an outsider can), however, can make that discussion more lively and productive by giving space for employees to communicate openly, but with purpose.

For Back To Wild Adventures, I convened a group of marketing, product development, and start-up experts to review her launch strategy. This team probed through everything from brand design and tone to audiences and partnerships. As a result, the founder was able to minimize capital outlay and risk during off-season and identified a second target market based on her long-term vision.

When tech-darling, RetailAware, was preparing to present at virtual conference Analytics Unite, their deck didn’t convey the same dynamism as their people or product. So, I gave it a quick makeover so they’d be ready for their spotlight moment. A presentation shouldn’t detract from your message.
